Ashley is a freelance editor who works and resides in the Greater Boston area. The writer-reader relationship is prioritized in her editing; she knows that fundamentally, the writer wants to be understood and the reader wants to understand. This does not occur easily without hard work. For Ashley, the magic of editing occurs when the right words ring true and speak to the heart.
Ashley studied in the Honors Program at Emerson College, earning a BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing with a minor in visual studies. While her day-to-day work took her from preschool classrooms to literary magazine offices, her thesis work revolved around identity formation through travel writing. Following graduation, she worked on editorial teams at Pearson Education and Cengage Learning. She now balances editorial work with community work at a non-profit in Cambridge.
With experience editing both trade books and educational course material, Ashley offers editorial services ranging from proofreading to developmental editing. Clients include Macmillan, Penguin Random House, Pearson Education, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and McGraw-Hill Education. There is no project too big or small for Ashley; in addition to working with publishers, she reviews college admission essays, graduate-level thesis work, and offers services to local non-profits.
